Family Pictures

We had some family pictures taken at church a few weeks ago.  I was pleasantly surprised with how well they turned out!  Forgive the quality, I scanned them in.

Here's my little family.  Morgan, 9;  Emma, 7; and Cartersauce is 3.

Not perfect but better

In case you were on the edge of your seat waiting to hear..............the Friday folder report was BETTER.  Not perfect, but I'll take it.  The teacher wrote on it "WOW!!  Now THIS is what we love to see!!!!"  So she clearly thought there was an improvement!

We still have a lot of work to do.  If anyone who is reading this is an EdPsych major, I'll gladly take any and all advice you have to offer me!!!!

Well that was fun!!!  I think I'll do a few more.
August 19: What is it about knowing I have a fasting blood test and therefore am not allowed to eat makes me absolutely ravenous?!! I'm usually only barely a little hungry when I wake up....but today, I feel like I could be a convincing extra in the movie 'Alive'!!
August 17: Clearly, I am not a very patient person!!!! When I want something to happen, I want it to happen NOW! Just a little something I've learned about myself in my almost 34 years of life.
more information on this one coming soon.....
August 16: I think my husband would agree, I should have some kind of large gathering at my house more often because it forces me to clean. AND, it's clean by 9:30 a.m.! Carter is really confused.
I had an Initials, Inc party at my house.  It was SO FUN!
August 10:  OK everyone...here is my PSA for today. When filling out a form that says "please print" PLEASE PRINT!!!!!! If I have to try to decipher one more scribble that is supposed to be someones name, I might hurt myself.
This one comes from entering 550 family names into the PTO family directory.  I am the new PTO secretary and being in charge of the directory is part of my job.  As a result of this undertaking, I have learned something very important about people of earth and that is.....people have HORRIBLE HANDWRITING!  When the paper says "please print" how hard is it to PRINT?!
August 8:  Morgan: "You know how people in New York dance or play songs in the street and people come up and put money in their bucket?" Me: "Um...yes?" Morgan (with bucket in hand) "OK, well can I go do that in the driveway?!!" Heaven help me.
 um....self explanatory

Just the facts, ma'am

I saw a friend do this other day and I thought it was a terrific way to ease back into blogging.  So, without further ado, I give you....a post in Facebook statuses:

August 21:  Started reading "The Help" about 6 hours ago and I can. Not. Stop!

finished it in about 8 hours combined.  AWESOME book.  Now I must see the movie!
August 26:  Dear Morgan, School is not your personal playground. Yes, there is a playground there and I understand that might be confusing, but unless you're physically ON the playground, you're supposed to actually learn stuff at school. Sorry if this cuts into your socializing time. Love, Your Beyond Frustrated Mother
this is an issue that will require its own entry....this child is going to drive me to drinking.
August 29:  While watching the VMAs last night, my first thought was "wow, I'm really old...I can't stand this" but then it quickly hit me. It isn't that I'm old. I wouldn't have been able to stand that when I was younger. It is that I have standards, and morals, and a character that doesn't allow me to tolerate the promoting of debauchery, drug use, and foul language.
self explanatory!!!
September 1:  It is with deep regret that I inform you all that I, Molly Day, am responsible for the great Smurf washing-machine massacre of 2011. Could we please have a moment of silence for 2 Papas, Handy, Farmer, Gutsy, and Panicky Smurf today? (Poor Panicky, he probably tried to tell them it wasn't a good idea to hang out in that big pile of clothes. Maybe next time they'll listen....pretentious little blue bastards.)
Not sure what the point of this was other than I really wanted to be able to say bastards on facebook.
September 2:  (From Chris' status)  as Molly was looking through Morgan's folder after school, all I heard was, "put your shoes on and get in the car, we're going back to the school", and based on the tone, I'm guessing they're not playing on the playground. *sigh*
uh...yeah...remember the drinking?  Chris is going to join me.

Meijer Meal Box

Going grocery shopping today.

I don't particularly enjoy grocery shopping.

Found a cool little tool called Meijer Meal Box.  It lets me plan my meals and make shopping lists along with the Meijer coupons.  Kind of cool.

It's over there ------>

The end.

Is this thing on?

*ahem*  Hi there.

I'm posting something because Tia told me to.

I really need to get back into this so I can keep a record of the craziness that is my life.

The running thing went great for a while...until I got plantar fasciitis so bad I couldn't walk in the mornings!!  So, this will most definitely no longer be a running blog.

Here we go......

A Conversation with Carter

Monday morning, 9:50a.m.

Carter:  *Pops up from chair and walks over to me.*  Can I go now?
Me:  Go where?
Carter:  To the North Pole!
Me:  Really?  The North Pole?  Are you Santa?
Carter:  No!
Me:  Are you an Elf?
Carter:  No!
Me:  Are you a reindeer?
Carter:  No, I Carter!!!!
Me:  Then why are you going to the North Pole?
Carter:  So I can get presents for Santa Claus?
Me:  Really?  Will you bring a present for me?
Carter:  Yes!
Me:  What kind of present will you bring me?
Carter:  Ummmm....*thinks*  A COFFEE MAKER!
Me:  Wow!  I love coffee makers!  What else?
Carter:  Um....*hang on...goes back to chair and back to watching TV*

Dude left me hangin'!

Carter:  *Just as spontaneously comes back and continues with* Ummm.....a game for you!
Me:  Really? What kind of game?
Carter:  Shooting game!
Me:  What am I going to do with a shooting game?
Carter:  You'll press A when you play, Mommy.  We'll play Wii.  You'll be You and I'll be Me.  Well, not you.  Daddy, and Morgan and Carter and Daddy.
Me:  Really?
Carter:  Yep.  You're not Morgan, you're Mommy.

Week 4, day 3: Run in Boulder

Week 4, day 3: Run in Boulder by mollybsu at Garmin Connect - Details

It wasn't pretty but at least I did it.

Ever try running under water? I haven't either but now I know what it feels like!!

I was in Boulder for the Ironman Volunteer Director's conference.  It was SO much fun.  I met an amazingly awesome new friend, Meg.  She is the volunteer director for this years championship race in Vegas.  I think I'm going to need to go help her.  We seriously might have been separated at birth with as much as we had in common.  My "boss" also turned out to be the sweetest thing alive.  Sara is going to be a ton of fun to work with!!!!  Come on July!

That hurt like a shot in the heel

That's going to be my new expression to describe something that hurts really bad.

Here's a play by play for those of you who find this stuff fascinating.  (If you tend to pass out at the thought of shots, needles, ligaments, and the combination of the 3, you may want to sit down and have some orange juice nearby)

The podiatrist came into my room (he's a friend of mine) and did an ultrasound of my heel.  He said it was definitely plantar fasciitis because he could see the swollen plantar fascia ligament above my heel.  He even showed me.  I had a flashback to looking at my unborn children on an ultrasound screen because my foot on the screen looked about the same to me as they always did.  A big blob of nothingness.  But, once he pointed it out, it was actually kind of fascinating.

So he said we should go ahead with the cortisone injection and then inserts for my shoes.  He said he'd also give me some exercises to do.  He said "Ok, I'm going to spray some really cold spray on your heel so it makes the injection not hurt so much. So, you'll feel cold, then stick, then burn"  I was like "OK, whatever you say"  I had already told him I was nervous about it and he said (and I quote) "It really isn't that bad" (end quote)  So, as he puts the needle in (I think while watching the ultrasound) I say "Oh, you're right, it doesn't hurt that bad" and he says "Now, here comes the burn" and I said "OOH MY GOSH MATTHEW YOU TOTALLY LIED TO ME!"  But by the time I had said that, the worst was over.  When I stood up later, it actually felt BETTER than it had when I walked in.

My instructions are to do the exercises (including rolling a frozen water bottle back and forth on my foot for 20 minutes 4 times a day...good advice for anyone suffering with plantar fasciitis), go to the Athletic Annex in Indianapolis to have them analyze my gait for good quality running shoes, wear the inserts he gave me, and try to stay off the treadmill whenever I can.

My plan is to continue on as scheduled with my 3 mile run tomorrow.  I will take it a little easy and stop if it is hurting, but right now, I think I'll be fine.  It feels kind of weird right now, but no pain...and the plantar fascial pain is definitely less!  All in all, I'm very happy I went and got it fixed before it became a major problem that would have caused me to have to stop running for a while!!
